About Hunter Community Inclusion

At Hunter Community Inclusion (HCI), we believe quality disability support starts with genuine relationships, trust, respect and understanding.

Established in 2023, HCI was founded by three experienced support workers with a shared vision: to create a disability support provider that delivers high-quality, personalised support while remaining genuinely connected to the people it serves.

Our directors bring extensive frontline experience supporting people with autism, complex mental health needs, complex behaviours, physical disabilities, high-intensity support needs and complex care requirements. This practical experience continues to shape our values, our services, and the way we support our participants today.

Since 2023, HCI has grown to employ more than 30 staff and proudly supports over 35 NDIS participants across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the wider Hunter region. In 2025, Hunter Community Inclusion became an NDIS Registered Provider, marking an important milestone in our organisation’s growth and our ongoing commitment to delivering safe, reliable and high-quality supports.

As an NDIS Registered Provider, we are proud to align the way we work with the NDIS Code of Conduct and the principles of choice, dignity, respect and person-centred support.

For HCI, this is more than meeting our obligations as a registered provider. These principles reflect the type of organisation we set out to build from the beginning. We are committed to providing supports that respect each person’s individual rights, independence, privacy, dignity and right to make their own choices. We continually work to maintain high standards across our organisation and create a culture where participants feel heard, respected, and supported.

Leadership That Remains on the Frontline

One of the things that makes HCI different is that our directors continue to work on the frontline alongside our support workers and participants.

As HCI has grown, we have made a conscious effort not to lose the personal connection that led us to establish the organisation in the first place. Having our directors remain actively involved in service delivery means our leadership stays connected to the everyday experiences of participants, families, and staff. We believe good leadership in disability support shouldn’t only happen from behind a desk.

Individualised Support

At HCI, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to support. Every participant has their own goals, abilities, preferences, challenges, and circumstances. We take the time to understand the individual and tailor our supports around what matters to them.

We work collaboratively with participants, families, carers and other members of their support network to provide consistent, dependable and person-centred support that encourages independence, choice and meaningful community participation.

Accessible Transport & Community Inclusion

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to access and participate in their community. HCI operates multiple wheelchair-accessible vehicles, enabling us to provide much-needed accessible transport for people with mobility requirements throughout our community.

Our accessible transport helps participants attend appointments, participate in activities, maintain relationships, access services, and enjoy greater freedom within their community.To us, accessible transport isn’t simply about getting someone from one destination to another. It’s about **removing barriers and creating opportunities for greater independence, connection, and inclusion.

Growing While Staying Personal

From establishing HCI in 2023, becoming an NDIS Registered Provider in 2025, and growing to a team of 30+ staff supporting 35+ participants, we are incredibly proud of what our team has built. But the numbers aren't what define us.

As we continue to grow, our focus remains on providing personalised, dependable and high-quality support while staying connected to the people we support. Our goal is simple: to help people live with greater choice, independence, and genuine inclusion within their community.
